The Power of the Quest II: Grades 3 - 5


Purpose
  • Meet with grade alike teachers and consultants to learn about inquiry and technology
  • collaboratively write an ELA inquiry unit for your grade level

Knowledge
  • Define inquiry learning
  • Scaffolding of skills
  • Principles of backwards design

Understand
  • that students need higher level thinking skills in the 21st Century which requires teachers to rethink instruction
  • that students live in a global world in which technology plays a major role
  • learning is a messy process for both teachers and students
Do
  • Search and communicate using a variety of technology tools
  • Collaboratively write an ELA Inquiry Unit

Expectations
  • Attend all PD days (approx 6)
  • Experiment with inquiry in your classroom
  • Experiment with technology in your classroom
  • Contribute to the creation of an inquiry ELA unit for your grade level
  • Teach the inquiry unit: reflect - modify - adapt
  • Professional reflection
